Last night for the first time in a long time I actually felt creatively alive. It’s been a frustrating time, feeling weary for one reason or another, battling colds and other ailments, not sleeping well. But the boys recently started going to sleep in their own bedroom (for a co-sleeping AP mama this is big news!!) and although they don’t “sleep through” it’s a psychological boost to me that I get a bit of space in the evenings. And on evenings like last night when the housework is done before the boys go to bed and they go to bed quickly and sweetly – those are evenings to cherish.
I was planning on drawing a “happy mothers’ day” painting but didn’t have any especially appropriate backgrounds hanging around. Then after finishing the Peacock, the Bean’s artwork from the other day called to me – and this is what came out of it!
“Who knows the bright secrets
your ten fingers hold,
The talents still hidden,
The world is awaiting
the wonder of you,
For no-one can guess
what these hands will do!”
And if anyone knows the original author of this poem I would LOVE to know who it is!
